Fallas.....Benicarlo Fallas March 2012
Catalonia, Spain - 10-17 Mar 2012
Famous for the large characture figures, famous in the Valencia area. Benicarlo has many of these large cartoon figures that every march are burnt as large bonfires. Originally started by Valenciana carpenters who made fun life sized figures of local characters, the tradition of building giant cartoon figures and then burning them is now a regular fixture throughout Valencia and its regions. The town of Benicarlo is divided into disticts, and each district creates its own Falla. These are judged and the worst is burned first, with the best burned last. So you have lots of different themes, and the whole town is filled with lots of giant figures , on every corner and street. So if you enjoy naturism, but also want to see a traditional Spanish Falla, then why not try a few days in Peniscola which is 10 minutes drive from Benicarlo.
