The semi-desert Island of Fuerteventura is perhaps most famous for it's beaches, with over 50km of stunning white and golden sand. There are extremely strong off-shore winds that particularly attract wind-surfers. Every year in August, the world speed-surfing championship is held in Fuerteventura. The two largest holiday centres on Fuerteventura are the JandÌa peninsula in the south, and Corralejo in the north.
