Do I have to be naked all the time?

No, naturists are people who wear clothes when appropriate not just to hide their bodies. Naturists will dress when it is cold or when doing a job where their body needs protection.

Some times private clubs or holiday centres will have rules about clothes such as insisting that clothes are not worn in and around the swimming pool but are worn in the restaurant.

What if I meet someone I know at a naturist venue?

Well they will be naked as well won't they? They will be there for the same reason that you are so there is nothing to be embarrassed about. And if they are not naked then they must be there just to look at the naked people so they are the ones who should be ashamed of themselves.

What if my body isn't good enough?

Don't worry, you will not be alone in thinking this. Accepting yourself and your body for they are is a large part of being a naturist. So many people who are unhappy with their bodies feel more comfortable on a naturist beach than on a clothed one.

What if somebody comes on to me?

It is not unusual for people to think that if they are naked they will be inviting unwanted sexual advances. Sexual harassment is very unusual on a naturist beach and naturists generally unite to provide a safe family environment. So if you are worried about this simply stay in the busier areas.

Could I be arrested?

Obviously, the law varies from country to country and it is beyond the scope of this web site to provide up to date information about each and every legal jurisdiction, so it is up to you to check what the legal situation is in the country that you are intending to visit. However most major holiday destination countries have officially sanctioned naturist beaches so just do a search on the internet and you should soon find them.

What if I get an erection?

This is a fairly common concern for men who are planning to go to a naturist beach for the first time. Some may be too nervous at first but if not simply find a quiet area and lie on your front until you get used to the situation. After that it is still possible that you might get an erection as it is a normal, healthy thing, but very rare on a public beach. Nobody will mind as long as you are not walking around flaunting it. Simply sit or lie down, cover yourself with a towel or jump into the water.

What is a textile?

A 'textile' is the name that many naturists give to people who wear clothes on the beach.
